Anatomy Workshops Information

It is shameful for man to rest in ignorance of the structure of his own body, especially when the knowledge of it mainly conduces to his welfare, and directs his application of his own powers.

— Philip Melanchthon)

Anatomy/Cadaver workshops at the University of Western Ontario, given by Dr. Alan Hrycyshyn and facilitated by Susan Robson RMT/TouchWorksLondon

Workshop Objective

To give the registered health care professional or student the opportunity to gain more knowledge and understanding of human anatomy. Through lectures, power point and prosections* participants will gain a greater insight into exactly how the normal structure and function of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems work.

*Prosections- dissected cadavers for the purpose of demonstrating anatomical structures

Workshop Structure

The workshops are held on weekends and are 6 hrs in length, 3 hrs each day. Each session will begin with a review of the material to be covered. There will be a lecture and discussion and then participants will have the opportunity to identify the structures on the prosections provided. Normally there are 4-6 people at a table which allows everyone to participate.

Outcome

At the conclusion of this 2 day workshop you will be secure in your knowledge of general anatomy and the terms used to describe it. This will allow you to be more confident and effective in your communication skills when discussing client or patient injuries with peers and others in the health care field.
